Born 1982 in České Budějovice.
He studied stone sculpture at the Secondary School of Applied Arts of St. Anežka Česká in Český Krumlov. He then graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the Studio of Sculpture with prof. ak. soch. Jiří Beránek (2007) and doctoral studies under prof. ak. mal. Boris Jirků at the Academy of Fine Arts in Banská Bystrica (2012). During his studies, he attended an annual internship at Taideninstitut in Lahti, Finland, and then at Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver, Canada. In 2000, he attended an international student meeting on cultural heritage in South Korea organized by UNESCO.
Michal Trpák created dozens of sculptures from various materials that are exhibited in the Czech Republic and abroad. The sculptures he creates often work with the themes of contemporary society and with the specific space they are installed in.
In addition to sculpture, he also devotes himself to architecture and organizing and curating various sculptural presentations. Since 2007 he has been organizing the Art in the City exhibition in České Budějovice, and in 2015 he was the founder of the Sculpture Line Festival in Prague.
