A bronze cast of apple core placed on a granite plinth commemorates the act of Jára Cimrman who threw away a nibbled apple during his visit in České Budějovice and laid the foundations of composting. In this place was later on established the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia. The memorial is nowadays situated in its garden.
